Victoria Morgan, choreographer

Over the past eleven years, Cincinnati Ballet has experienced tremendous growth and critical success under the leadership of Artistic Director Victoria Morgan. Ms. Morgan arrived in Cincinnati in 1997, taking immediate steps to raise the company's standard of excellence by attracting celebrated dancers, choreographers, and ballet masters to the company from the international dance realm. Ms. Morgan sits on the board of Dance Magazine and the national membership organization DanceUSA, has served on the NEA evaluation panel, was presiding judge for the 2005 New York International Ballet Competition, and was a judicator for the Benois de la Danse Awards Gala in Moscow, Russia, in April 2006.  Ms. Morgan came to Cincinnati Ballet after nearly a decade as resident choreographer for the San Francisco Opera. Prior to that, she was a principal dancer for San Francisco Ballet (1978-1987) and Ballet West (1969-1978). In addition, Ms. Morgan performed lead roles for television and film and her choreography was featured in the PBS documentary, "The Creation of O.M.O."  Ms. Morgan graduated Magna Cum Laude with an M.F.A from the University of Utah.

Devon Carney, choreographer

Devon Carney was born in New Orleans, Louisiana where he began his dance training with Harvey Hysell.  He later joined the New Orleans Ballet, where he danced his first leading roles n 1978, Mr. Carney was invited to join Boston Ballet. Mr. Carney has toured extensively throughout Europe, United States and Mexico and Asia with such greats as Rudolph Nureyev, Fernando Bujones and Cynthia Gregory.  Mr. Carney served as Ballet Master for Boston Ballet from 1998 to 2003. Mr. Carney was appointed Artistic Director of Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program in 1994 and served in this capacity for 9 years.  In addition, his choreographic endeavors include the ballets Opus II and Interlude for Boston Ballet, Cascades and Daystar for Boston Ballet II.  Recently, he choreographed a work for Ballet Met in August of 2007 titled Speaking In Tongues.  He has also choreographed for and worked very closely with the Cincinnati Opera for the past two seasons.  In addition, Mr. Carney has choreographed several ballets for Cincinnati Ballet and in February of 2006, Mr. Carney choreographed Acts 2 and 4 of a full length Swan Lake for Cincinnati Ballet.  Then, in November of 2006, he choreographed his full length version of Giselle for Cincinnati Ballet to rave reviews and he will present his world premiere of Dracula in October of 2008. Mr. Carney currently serves as Associate Artistic Director of Cincinnati Ballet and has been with the Cincinnati Ballet since 2003.

Gerard Charles, choreographer

Gerard Charles was named BalletMet Columbus' Artistic Director in 2001, having served as Interim Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director for the previous three seasons. Mr. Charles was born in Folkestone, England, and trained at the Royal Ballet School in London. In addition to numerous guest appearances, he danced professionally for Ballet International in London, Milwaukee Ballet and BalletMet. Upon retiring from the stage, he served as Ballet Master for BalletMet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. He then returned to BalletMet as Ballet Master and Associate Artistic Director, serving as an advisor to the Artistic Director and as coach and teacher for Company dancers. Mr. Charles has choreographed and staged works internationally and received an NEA Choreographic Fellowship. Audiences have been delighted with his BalletMet productions of Alice in Wonderland, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Coppelia, The Sleeping Beauty and Aladdin.
