Executive Assistant to the Executive Director & Event Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director
Job Category: Full Time – average 40 hours/week – some nights & weekends

Job Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Executive Director’s calendar by keeping calendar up-to-date and solving scheduling conflicts when they arise
  • Communicate with and schedule meetings/events for dancers, staff, board members, and outside individual/organizations as requested by Executive Director
  • Order building stationary, business cards and name tags
  • Provide support to the Board of Trustees by attending Board meetings and select committee meetings, maintaining documents, and drafting meeting minutes
  • Create and maintain rosters of staff and Board of Trustees
  • Manage ticket donation tracking and issue ticket certificates to local organizations
  • Plan, coordinate and manage internal & external events (including but not limited to staff events, in theatre receptions; and in collaboration with the Development Department, The Nutcracker Ball & other Development events)
  • Event coordination including execution of set-up, tear-down, monitoring revenue and expense budgets, securing in-kind sponsorships with vendors, managing RSVPs, tickets and event payments, managing event vendors and working with Marketing Department to market event and create promotional materials
  • Contribute to overall success of BalletMet by maintaining collaborative, productive and professional relationships with staff, dancers, guest artists, patrons, and local and national arts organizations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualities and Attributes:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple, time-sensitive projects at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Event planning and coordination experience
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Database management experience; “Tessitura” experience a plus

Student Division & Trainee Faculty

Title: Student Division Faculty

 Job Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Advance student understanding of movement, dance and performance
  • Teach student artists using the BalletMet Syllabus
  • Communicate with parents and staff as directed by the Academy Director and/or Academy Manager
  • Contribute to the overall success of BalletMet by maintaining a productive and professional relationship with staff, company members, guest artists, students, Academy families and the public
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualities and Attributes:

  • Great communication skills
  • Team player
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional ballet dancer experience
  • 2-5 years of ballet teaching having experience with students age 10-20 years old.
  • Experience teaching ballet variations and repertoire
  • Capable to stage and modify sections and pieces of classical repertoire

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to remain flexible and supportive at all times

Modern Dance Instructor

BalletMet is seeking a Modern Dance instructor. Job requirements include teaching Modern Dance and Modern Dance Composition to our Intermediate, Advanced and Trainee Program students with the goal of advancing each student’s understanding of fundamentals, technique, vocabulary, and presentation, as well as setting repertoire and creating performance choreography in multiple styles.

Class Accompanist

Perform skilled work involving specialized musicianship in support of ballet classes. Classes would include ballet technique and pointe classes for all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced piano playing
  • Sight reading and improvisational skills needed
  • Thorough knowledge of piano repertoire
  • Broad knowledge of musical styles
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to represent BalletMet in a friendly, courteous and professional manner
  • Must be able to work evenings and Saturdays at our downtown Columbus location and our Worthington location.

Yoga Teachers

BalletMet is seeking to increase its Education and Community Engagement Department Faculty for a position teaching yoga to high school or junior high students 5 days per week during the 2021-2022 school year. Eligible candidates should have experience teaching adults and teens and hold at least a 200 hour certification in Yoga. Proof of certification is required.  Experience and training in teaching iRest® meditation is preferred. A background in dance is a plus.
