Audience reviews from NYC's the Joyce Theater, Sept. 30-Oct. 5, 2008:
It was unlike anything I've ever seen. I want to know more about the background of the dancers and the Company because it's really interesting.
High energy performance. It seems that the Company has stepped it up even higher than I thought they could, and I thought they were terrific to begin with.
It's so risky and it's such a nice balance that they bring to pointe work and modern work. Everything ties together so wonderfully. It's a great contrast to the classical ballet that we see so much here in the city.
The fluidity and ease of choreography and dancers both is really nice. I'm from Columbus, so it's nice to see [the Company] again here in New York.
It seems they've chosen all their choreographers with a highly theatrical sense of dance. Each of theses dances I could easily see as a moment in a Broadway musical, I mean a good Broadway musical, say one of the pieces by Twyla Tharp or any of the modern dancers who or currently choreographing. It shows they really want to engage you in the event of the dance.
The dancers are superb.
I love the variety of movements. It kept changing. The dances were beautiful. It held my interest and I just feel like getting up and dancing.
I like the mixture of graceful moves and very sporadic moves. I've never seen speaking in a ballet before. It was surprising for me.
The performance is outstanding. The company knows how to emphasize the intimacy of the Joyce Theater better than any other company I've seen.
We are blessed to have our ballet company here in New York at the Joyce. The audience is awesome, as New York audiences always are. I think our dancers are even more awesome.
As an Ohio native I'm quite proud of my kinfolk. They're doing a fantastic job. The show is amazing and athletic and creative.
Awesome. Fantastic. It's the best.
Audience Reviews from Hot Nights, Cool Dance, July 30-Aug. 24, 2008:
The performance this past weekend was wonderful. BalletMet has started their next season with a bang. I am so glad to see 4 new male dancers in the company. One dancer, Jon Drake, especially caught my eye. He has good technique and his stage presence is the best. Kudos to the artistic director for grabbing this gem. I can't wait for the rest of the season. If this weekend is any indication then the entire season is one not to be missed.

the show was incredible!!!!!!! The diversity in the program was really nice and it really showed off the company well. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the InOvation students perform, they were a nice surprise and it was lovely to see such young artists have a chance to demonstate their skills alongside the dancers of BalletMet. Thank you for the wonderful show!!
