5 new dancers, 20 returning dancers make up BalletMet’s 2016/17 company

BalletMet’s professional company is welcoming five new dancers, including the promotion of BalletMet 2 dancer Austin Moholt-Siebert, and 20 returning dancers for its 2016/17 season.

The four dancers selected from around the world are: Romel Frometa, from Havana, Cuba and previously with Cincinnati Ballet; Rachael Jones, of Snellville, Ga. and previously with Washington Ballet; Lisset Santander, of Matanzas, Cuba and previously with the National Ballet of Cuba; and Sarah Wolff, of Traverse City, Mich. and previously with The National Ballet of Canada.

Miguel Anaya, Adrienne Benz, Attila Bongar, Jessica Brown, Andres Estevez, Arielle Friedman, Emily Gotschall, Kohhei Kuwana, Kristie Latham, Bethany Lee, Grace-Anne Powers, Jarrett Reimers, Sarah Reimold, Martin Roosaare, Michael Sayre, Gabriel Gaffney Smith, Caitlin Valentine-Ellis, David Ward, Carly Wheaton and Karen Wing are all returning company dancers.

“I’m very excited with and proud of the talent level that we’ve been able to keep and attract this season,” said BalletMet Artistic Director Edwaard Liang. “With this group of dancers, we’ll continue to do what we’ve been doing: pushing boundaries, innovating and elevating our artistic integrity. It’s going to be a stellar year, with exceptional programming.”

BalletMet 2, BalletMet’s second company, will have four new dancers this season, including Zachary Alsop, of San Francisco, Calif., Colin Ellis, of McHenry, Ill., Carly Hambridge, of Charlotte, N.C., and Allison Perhach, of Leesburg, Va. Darian Kane is returning to BalletMet 2 for a second season.
