Benny Simon


Benny Simon is a contemporary dancer, teacher, choreographer, and researcher. He has performed for Alexandra Beller, Kendra Portier, Lena Lauer, Renee Gerardo/Dances, and Diane McCarthy. His most recent work, Orbit and Sum, was presented at the Agnes Varis Theater at Gibney Dance in New York. He has served as a faculty member at Dance Space Center, Dance New Amsterdam, Gibney Dance, and as a visiting artist at Brandeis University, Syracuse University, The 92nd Street Y, Ecole de Dance de Québec, Steps on Broadway, The Mark Morris Dance Center, and Peridance Capezio Center. He is certified in the Simonson Method of Teacher Training, holds an Masters in Dance Education from New York University, and is currently pursuing his PhD in Dance Studies at The Ohio State University, where he is also a graduate instructor. Benny is the director of The Simon Family Scholarship, which supports the development of New York City-based dance artists by subsidizing class and other training opportunities.

Class is an inclusive space for the rigorous exploration of the body’s capacity to move. We investigate our individuality, hone our technique, question convention, and cultivate a community of dancing that extends past the studio.
