Janine Lawson has been teaching for BalletMet since 2003 and is ABT® Certified in Pre-Primary through Level 3. Janine expanded her teaching breadth by joining the Education Department at BalletMet. She teaches the Early Childhood programs, Moving into Literacy and Momentum. She trained at the Teaching Excellence Teacher Training Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico, specifically focusing on teaching excellence through dance education curriculum in the public schools. She has also trained in dance education with Martha Eddy and Pamela Sofras.

Ms. Lawson studied under Jean Gedeon and Mansur Kamaletdinov as a scholarship student in the Pre-Professional Program at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a featured dancer and earned rave reviews for her choreography at West Virginia University. She danced and toured with Mountain Jazz Dance Theatre in the early ‘90s. Janine took her love of dance into the classroom in Atlanta in 1992 and hasn’t looked back.
