Ruth Page, choreographer

Throughout her career, Ruth Page was been associated with the world's greatest dancers, choreographers, producers, and designers. She was with the Diaghilev Ballet Russe, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. The Page-Stone Ballet (formed in association with Bentley Stone) toured the United States for eight seasons, and was the first American ballet company to tour South America.


Ruth Page created some of the best-known ballets of our time. "Frankie and Johnny" is one of her most famous choreographic contributions. She created productions for the Ballet des Champs Elysees in Paris, the Lyons Festival and London's Festival Ballet. Four of her ballets, "Die Fledermaus," "Carmen," "Mephistophela," and "Camille" were shown on television.


Page was Ballet Director of both the Ruth Page International Ballet and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
