Charles Czarny

Charles Czarny was born in Chicago and received his dance training at Bennington College and in New York City. At the age of 27, he went to Holland, loved it and has been there ever since. He was formerly a principal dancer with The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The American Festival Ballet, and The Netherlands Dance Theatre. Mr. Czarny has created dance works for The Netherlands Dance Theatre, The Norwegian Ballet, The Bat-Dor Company of Israel, and in the US, The Pennsylvania Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre and Ballet Metropolitan. In 1971, The Royal Ballet of Flanders commissioned Mr. Czarny to choreograph a light ballet which was to be included on a heavy program; Bach Brandenburg #3 became that piece, and has been performed by various companies around the world. Ballet Metropolitan is proud to add this work to our repertoire, which contains two other Czarny ballets: Sunny Day and Concerto Grosso. (February 1984)

Concerto Grosso (1980, 1982, 1983)
Sunny Day (February 12, 1983, March 24, 1983, April 6, 1983)
Bach Brandenburg #3 (February 24-25, 1984, 1986)
