Women (1979)

Choreography: Domy Reiter-Soffer
Music: Pierr Boulez (Pli Selon Pli)
Costume design: Domy Reiter-Soffer

A startling contemporary score and vivid sensual choreography unfold the gripping story of woman's struggle for independence in a rigid conformist society. Five women cling together in fear, suspicion, and ignorance, but one has the curiosity and courage to break away, enticing three others to follow her into discovery of all aspects of life. The fifth woman refuses to throw off her traditional thoughts and habits, and the four others are not prepared to cope with the realities of a new life; therefore they perish. The righteous one prevails in her tradition.
