BalletMet launches search for new academy director

For the past two years, BalletMet’s Dance Academy has had the privilege of being led by Director Timothy Lynch, who encouraged more boys to pursue dance through the creation of our Boys Program and who aptly restructured the academy so it would be more efficient and successful.

Now Lynch and his wife, Alexandra Dickson, have the opportunity to become co-directors of the Scripps Performing Arts Academy in San Diego and will be leaving BalletMet at the end of July, following the conclusion of the Summer Intensive program.

“Under Tim’s leadership, the academy has been reorganized, the Trainee Program has expanded, and a Boys Program was created,” said Executive Director Sue Porter. “Our new director will have big shoes to fill but will find an academy that is in a very good place.”

To that end, BalletMet is launching a search for a new academy director. The committee, comprised of Porter, Artistic Director Edwaard Liang, Board members, staff and dance professionals, will conduct a nationwide search for the most qualified candidate to fill the position as soon as possible.
