BalletMet’s KidTix

BalletMet is eliminating barriers to the arts by providing free tickets to individuals from under-served groups and those with special needs who could not otherwise attend the ballet. For many KidTix participants, this BalletMet experience is a first-time exposure to a performance by professional artists in a theatre setting. Only $36 will send a child to the theatre through the KidTix program.

About KidTix

Several weeks prior to a performance, agencies are notified that tickets are available and are invited to contact BalletMet to arrange for their group to attend. BalletMet requires that chaperones from the agency accompany each KidTix group. In order to make the experience more enlightening, inspiring and entertaining, BalletMet provides agency chaperones with education materials prior to the performance. Materials include information about the performance, the roles of each person who helped produce the ballet such as the choreographer, costume designer and production manager, as well as theatre etiquette – how to conduct themselves as audience members. Links to online resources about dance are also included.

The KidTix recipient agencies represent diverse populations, especially those from under-served groups and those with special needs. BalletMet works with each of its ADA accessible theatre venues to ensure adequate accommodations for these individuals. BalletMet’s education department is available to assist with any special requests in order to provide a specific group with additional, tailored information to meet its needs.

Thank you for the tickets. I really liked The Nutcracker. The most thing I liked was the Grandma…and the fight with the Mouse King and the Nutcracker and all the colors and the big tree…and the magic.

Performance Discussions in the Theatre

For select performances, BalletMet offers pre- and post-performance conversations in the theatre with artistic staff, guest choreographers, dancers and other special guests. These casual conversations enlighten audience members about the evening’s performance and take place 30 minutes before or after select performances. Admission is included with purchase of ticket. A must for dance lovers!
