BalletMet Dance Academy scholarship program offers students in the Central Ohio area opportunities for quality dance education and training. Scholarships require an audition and/or teacher recommendation and must be renewed annually based upon review of criteria.
Open to all Academy students at various income levels ages 9-18. The total number of students in this program varies depending on number of applicants and their varying levels of talent and financial need. Funding varies from full to partial for academic year and summer study options and is awarded on a sliding scale based on talent, attendance, dance learning progress, financial need and underserved populations. Some of these scholarships may be named scholarships in addition to Dare To Be Moved. Evening summer study enrollment is required if the student is not attending BalletMet’s Summer Intensive Program.
Criteria (In Order of Importance)
Teacher recommendation, observation and/or audition
Above Average student dance learning progress/aptitude
Financial Need/Income Statement may be required
Underserved student population
Audition and/or teacher consultation with Scholarship Committee
Good dance learning progress
Attendance at all recommended meetings such as Nutcracker Orientation, Summer Study, Dancer Wellness, etc.
Required to audition for BalletMet’s Nutcracker and Summer Intensive, if of appropriate age.
2.5 GPA strongly encouraged but not required
Required to participate in Summer Study.
Partial to full tuition for Academic year and evening Summer study
Minimum prescribed course of dance study
Students who demonstrate financial need may qualify for a
reduced rate of $15.00 per month for classes outside of the prescribed course of study. Those who do not qualify will be expected to pay full price or the remainder of tuition.

Open to students age 8-12 entering BalletMet’s Dance Academy for the first time. Prior dance training is not required. Open auditions will be held at local schools and BalletMet studios.
Criteria (Listed in Order of Importance)
By audition only for students age 8-12 as of September 1, 2017 (grades 2-5)
High potential for dance training, primarily in ballet
Above average dance learning progress
Potential for further intensive dance training
Family commitment and transportation
Attendance at all required meetings
Good grades in school are strongly recommended
Evening summer study is recommended
Fully funded tuition for two classes each week (total of three hours) that are chosen by BalletMet and follow a prescribed course of study

BalletMet reserves the right to revoke a student’s scholarship funding at any time, not renew a student’s scholarship and/or dismiss them from BalletMet’s Dance Academy Scholarship Program for any reason. Written notification will be given. Parents/guardians may also remove their child from the Scholarship Program at any time with written notification.
