Karen Wing

KAREN WING began her dance training at Petaluma School of Ballet. Ms. Wing continued her education at the University of California-Irvine, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in June 2013 with a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Business Management. While in college, she worked extensively with Donald McKayle and Jodie Gates, and was selected to be a part of Molly Lynch’s National Choreographers Initiative in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Ms. Wing danced for the Sacramento Ballet for one season before joining BalletMet in 2014.

Ms. Wing has had the pleasure of performing works by choreographers such as Edwaard Liang, Ma Cong, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, James Kudelka, Matthew Neenan, Val Caniparoli, Trey McIntyre, Andi Schermoly, Christopher Wheeldon, Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine, and Ohad Naharin. In 2015, Ms. Wing was selected to be one of Pointe Magazine’s “2015 Stars of the Corps”, and in 2016, Pointe recognized her performance in Carmen.maquia as one of the standout performances of the year. In 2018, Ms. Wing was awarded the Columbus Dances Fellowship grant for choreography from the Columbus Dance Theatre in partnership with the Greater Columbus Arts Council. In Spring of 2021, Ms. Wing had the pleasure of choreographing Verbena, which premiered in BalletMet’s program Unlocked. Ms. Wing was named a finalist for the GCAC’s Artists Elevated grant in 2022. Ms. Wing is now in her ninth season with BalletMet.
