Carly Wheaton is from the Bay Area, Calif., where she trained with Stapleton Ballet School, Marin Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School. Upon graduating, Ms. Wheaton spent a season dancing with Ballet Memphis as a trainee. She proceeded to join The Washington Ballet’s Studio Company and was promoted to the full company in 2014 prior to joining Ballet Met.  She has had the pleasure of working with choreographers Val Caniparoli, Matthew Neenan, Andi Schermoly, Ma Cong, Edwaard Liang, Michael Pink, Septime Webre, and James Kudelka.  Ms. Wheaton has enjoyed performing roles such as Giselle in Edwaard Liang’s production of Giselle, as Wendy in Michael Pink’s Peter Pan, as the Sugar Plum Fairy in Gerard Charles’ The Nutcracker, in Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort, and as the Russian Girl in George Balanchine’s Serenade.  In 2016, Ms. Wheaton participated in the Emmy Award-winning production of Becoming Violet, a dance video directed by Steven Weinzierl and choreographed by Edwaard Liang.  Ms. Wheaton often spends her summers dancing for Julia Adam Dance in Marin County, California. This is Ms. Wheaton’s fourth season with BalletMet.
