Gabriel Gaffney Smith began dancing at the age of 12 in his hometown of Saugerties, N.Y., at the Saugerties Ballet Center. For his senior year of high school, he traveled to Pittsburgh, Pa., to study with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. After completing both Schenley and graduate programs, Mr. Smith joined PBT in 2005. In 2008 he joined BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio, where he still lives, dances, composes, choreographs and creates. Mr. Smith has collaborated with numerous musicians and ballet companies including BalletMet, the Washington Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Texture Contemporary Ballet and Red House Productions, as well as composing and performing live alongside members of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Luis Biava. Mr. Smith has had the opportunity to choreograph and set his works with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Cincinnati Ballet and BalletMet.  His work as a visual artist has been featured in Columbus Museum of Art and Galleries across the country.  You can find more information about Mr. Smith as an artist at
