So Jung Lee was born in Chung Ju, South Korea where she started ballet at her mother’s dance studio at the age of five. She trained with the Korea National University of Arts in Seoul prior to joining Boston Ballet.
Ms. Lee has competed in several prestigious ballet competitions, including being a finalist in the 2012 Varna International Ballet Competition, a bronze winner at the Youth America Grand Prix in 2013, a finalist in the 2014 USA International Ballet Competition, and a gold medalist at the 2015 Sicilia Barocca Concorso International di Danza Competition.
She has danced soloist and principal parts in Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker, Ivan Liška’s Le Corsaire, Frederick Ashton’s The Sleeping Beauty, William Forsythe’s Artifact, Blake Works, Playlist, and Pas/Parts, John Cranko’s Chaconne, George Balanchine’s Donizetti Variations, Coppélia, and The Nutcracker, and Marius Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and Giselle. This is Ms. Lee’s first season with BalletMet.
