National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA)

National Dance Education Organization

The primary mission of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) is: (1) to promote and honor outstanding achievement in students 11-18 years of age studying dance; (2) to encourage well-rounded young dance artists to be leaders in their communities; and (3) to identify honor students of junior and senior high school age for nomination to the National Dance Education Organization’s Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award, one of the highest honors programs in the United States.

The National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) is a program developed in cooperation with the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). BalletMet is pleased to extend the capability of making it possible for students who participate in dance to receive the opportunity to be credited on their school records and transcripts. With the time they have dedicated to dance we feel this a valuable program. In addition, our hopes are to encourage well-rounded dance artists to become leaders in their communities after high school graduation.

2016-17 Membership Application

Fee Structure

One-time Initiation Fee: $15
Annual Dues for All Members: $20
*BalletMet covers the cost of the NHSDA pins for those students who earn pins.

Students who have paid their membership fee and/or member dues may begin or continue submitting Activity Point Entry forms to begin the point accumulation toward their total required for submission for their initial membership ribbon. Students in middle school are required to earn 15 points and high school students are required to reach 30 points for initial submission. Once a student has attained that goal, they earn additional stars when attaining certain levels. Only 3 points may be carried over from middle school to high school, but only after attaining the first level and beyond. It is important to remember that this process is not to be completed in a one-year period. It is meant to be something a student will work on for multiple years and in different aspects.
