Have you ever wanted to design your own dance program? Here's your chance to be a director for a day, as the audience is in control with BalletMet OnDemand. Make your voice heard and tell BalletMet which dance pieces you want to see again. The program will feature favorite works voted on by BalletMet fans, as well as favorites of the BalletMet Company dancers. Gerard Charles will also offer his favorites as he celebrates his 10th anniversary as BalletMet Artistic Director.

Audiences will be seduced by the physicality and energy of Amedeo Amodio's dramatic Carmen. Accompanied by Georges Bizet's famous score, obsession, intensity and drama are found in this modern-day reimagining of one of the world's most famous operas. The honorable soldier Don Jose. The proud toreador Escamillo. And Carmen, the seductive and passionate woman they both love. The stage is set for a tangled tale of passion and betrayal told through classical ballet with a contemporary edge.

Jazz Moves Columbus

Thrill to the sight of the BalletMet dancers as each kick, turn and leap is articulated by the virtuosic sounds of the CJO. From gospel to Motown, jazz to classical ballet, Jazz Moves Columbus will commemorate the city's heritage with two of its artistic treasures. The original Jazz Moves won the Greater Columbus Arts Council's Artistic Excellence Award and was called "groundbreaking" by the Columbus Dispatch. In collaboration with WOSU Public Media's "Columbus Neighborhoods" series, BalletMet and the Jazz Arts Group celebrate life in Columbus through a synthesis of music, movement and imagery.

Escape into an enchanted world of castles, curses, forests and fairies as BalletMet brings back to the stage the most celebrated classical ballet of all time, The Sleeping Beauty. Set to Tchaikovsky's famously moving score, this fantasy favorite tells the story of the beautiful Princess Aurora whose 100-year slumber can only be broken by the kiss of a handsome prince. Timeless music, sumptuous costuming and majestic dancing including the stunning Rose adagio, the Blue Bird pas de deux and the Fairy variations.

Contemporary dance and cutting-edge technology come together to create an experience like no other. Choreographer Jimmy Orrante, video game composer Sean Beeson and media artist Alan Price from OSU's Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design, create an interactive environment affected and influenced by the choreography and the audience. Internationally recognized software artist Frieder Weiss joins acclaimed contemporary choreographer Amy Seiwert to produce a piece where real-time video images are created in direct response to the movement of the dancers.
