Brooke Moore

Trainee Division

Brooke Moore was born in Latrobe, PA, where she began dancing at Laurel Youth Ballet School. She continued her training with Pittsburgh Youth Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School. Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson offered Ms. Moore an apprenticeship with SFB in 1998. The following season she became a member of the Corps de Ballet. While with the company for nine years, she performed soloist roles in numerous ballets including George Balanchine’s Symphony in Three Movements and Symphony in C; William Forsythe’s Artifact Suite; Mark Morris’ Pacific and Sylvia; Lew Christensen’s The Nutcracker; Jerome Robbins’ Glass Pieces; and Helgi Tomasson’s Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake.

Ms. Moore joined Pennsylvania Ballet in 2007, was promoted to Soloist in 2008, and in 2012 was promoted to Principal Dancer. While dancing with PA Ballet Ms. Moore performed featured roles in Giselle (Myrta); Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella (Fairy Godmother); William Forsythe’s The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Artifact Suite (pas de deux 2), 2nd Detail, and In the middle, somewhat elevated; Christopher Wheeldon’s Swan Lake (Odette/Odile), Polyphonia, and Carnival of the Animals; Matthew Neenan’s As Its Going, Keep, Carmina Burana, and 11:11; Peter Martins’ Fearful Symmetries; Hans Van Manen’s Five Tangos; Jiří Kylián’s Forgotten Land (Black Couple); Twyla Tharp’s Push Comes To Shove and Upper Room; Jerome Robbins’ In The Night (1^st pas de deux) and The Concert (Wife). Her Balanchine repertoire includes principal roles in Jewels: Emeralds (1^st solo) and Diamonds (pas de deux), The Four Temperaments (Second Theme and Sanguinic), Concerto Barocco (2nd Violin), Serenade (Russian Girl), Agon (1st pas de trois), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hippolyta and Divertissement pas de deux), The Nutcracker (Dewdrop and Sugarplum Fairy), Who Cares? (jumping girl), Stravinsky Violin Concerto (1^st pas de deux), and the lead roles in Raymonda Variations, Ballo della Regina, and Square Dance. Throughout her 18-year professional career Ms. Moore worked with renowned choreographers such as Christopher Wheeldon, Mark Morris, Alexi Ratmansky, Paul Taylor, Nicolo Fonte, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Benjamin Millepied, Trey McIntyre, and William Forsythe. Ms. Moore retired from the stage in the spring of 2016.

Ms. Moore graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts. She has been a guest teacher at numerous ballet schools and has been involved in several outreach and educational projects. She moved to Columbus in 2016 to be with her fiancé and is very excited to be on the other side of the studio and share her love of ballet with the students of BalletMet Academy.
