Ranked among the nation’s largest studios associated with a professional company, BalletMet Dance Academy offers hundreds of classes each year for students ages 3 to 84. We boast state-of-the-art studios, faculty members who have danced with companies around the world and live musical accompaniment in most ballet classes. Daryl Kamer founded the academy in 1974, but it didn’t become BalletMet Dance Academy until after the professional company was officially formed in 1978. Since BalletMet’s move to a 35,000 square-foot dance campus in Downtown Columbus in 1990, the company and academy have both become recognized as institutions of local and national stature.
BalletMet Dance Academy scholarship program offers students in the Central Ohio area opportunities for quality dance education and training.

Our Parents’ Association works closely with BalletMet’s staff and faculty and acts as a liaison with the parents of our Academy students.
At this time, we are offering all classes in person. Should the need arise to convert to virtual or a combination of both, we would make that adjustment.
We have our annual Spring Performance in June at the Davidson Theatre for Levels 1-Trainee. We also have our Performance Ensemble in Level 4-7/8 comprised of students that perform three times a year.
On April 11, 2022, our buildings will be mask optional including all classes and rehearsals. Anyone who would like to continue to wear a mask may wear their own. We will have extra masks available at the front desk if needed.
Please review our COVID guidelines here.
Students who are in Ballet Level 2 and up and are age 8 by the beginning of the academic year (September 30, 2022) are eligible to audition for a part in The Nutcracker. In order to be cast, students must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and up-to-date with their booster (if applicable). Fully vaccinated means dancers must be two weeks past their second vaccine dose.
