Our in-person Summer Intensive audition tour has concluded for the season, but we continue to accept video audition submissions for Summer Intensives and the Trainee Program via Danceapply.
This intensive will focus on the instruction of pas de deux and partnering technique for ballet and contemporary dance forms. Dancers ages 15-20 years old are welcome in this program. Ladies are required to have advanced pointe technique and men will focus on perfecting their partnering skills. A typical day in the intensive will consist of 1.5 hours of classical ballet technique, ballet pas de deux technique, ballet pas de deux repertoire, and an introduction to contemporary partnering class. Partnering is a fundamental skill which is required in order to become a professional dancer. This intensive will help bring dancers the versatility that dance companies require today.
As an add-on to the 5 week program, tuition is $1,400 and housing is $1,350.
Tuition for the partnering intensive alone, or as an add-on to the 3 week program, is $1,500 and housing is $1,450.
A non-refundable and non-transferable tuition deposit of $300 and housing deposit of $200 is due upon acceptance.
Housing balance is due by March 24. You may choose to pay the tuition balance in full by April 24 or split it into two installments made on March 24 and April 24.
Classes are taught by BalletMet faculty and guests. Students attend classes Monday – Saturday between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM with 35 to 40 hours of training a week. The core curriculum includes technique, variations, pointe for girls, repertoire and supplementary classes in modern, jazz, yoga, flamenco and Pilates.
A final performance showing in the BalletMet performance space will take place at the end of the intensive.
But it isn’t all work! There will be fun outings around the city for residential students as well.

Students in the 3-Week Intensive will join the first three weeks of the 5-week program. This shortened version allows for more flexibility and all the same benefits apply with the exception of the final performance.

Learn choreography from today’s top choreographers in a company style format, taught by Rehearsal Directors and BalletMet Company members. There will be an open rehearsal on Friday, July 31.

This week will help young dancers hone their skills to take on more challenging technique.
The only in-person auditions for our Junior Intensive are the auditions in Columbus on January 25 and February 22 (see below). Junior Intensive applicants who cannot attend these auditions may submit a headshot + letter of recommendation from a ballet teacher on our DanceApply site beginning December 1.
Tuition for existing BalletMet students is $560.
Tuition for non-BalletMet students is $600
A non-refundable and non-transferable tuition deposit of $100 is due upon acceptance. The remaining balance is due on July 1.
Our campus houses a 35,000-square-foot Dance Centre with eight studios, a costume shop and offices, along with a 20,000-square-foot fully equipped black box theatre and scene shop. BalletMet’s campus is in the cultural Discovery District, near Columbus State Community College, Columbus College of Art and Design, the Columbus Convention Center and Arena District.

Where twirling, jumping, and make-believe meet. Our summer camps turn wiggles into wonder, giving little movers a place to explore music, movement, and their biggest imaginations. They’ll make friends, build confidence, and come home happy-tired (the best kind). Spaces are limited and registration begins February 1!

Yes there is a performance at the end of the 5-week session. For Partnering and Company Rep weeks there is an open rehearsal. Junior Summer Intensive does not offer a performance or open rehearsal.
There is a placement class for Summer Intensive on the first day of the program.
