Lisset Santander

LISSET SANTANDER hails from Matanzas, Cuba and began dancing at the age of nine at Alfonso Perez Isaac Elementary and finished her training at the Cuban National Ballet School.  She previously danced with the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, performing as Odette/Odile in Swan Lake and Kitri in Don Quixote, among other roles.  She was awarded the gold medal at the 12th International Ballet Competition in Havana, Cuba, and received an award for the best classical variation at the 2011 Mediterraneo Dance Festival.  Her BalletMet roles include Dark Angel in Balanchine’s Serenade, the main pas de deux in Christopher Wheeldon Fool’s Paradise,  Myrta , Queen of the Wilis, in Edwaard Liang’s Giselle, the Sugar Plum pas de deux in The Nutcracker,  Slingerland Pas de Deux  from William Forsythe,  Soloist Girl in Balanchine’s Rubies , as well as Edwaard Liang’s  Murmuration and Art of War.
