Charles Bradley

Reynoldsburg City Schools Partnership

Charles Bradley is a community taught dancer from Columbus, Ohio. From a very young age, movement has always been an important factor in his life. At the age of sixteen, he enrolled in the Step One Allstars Hip Hop program in Hilliard, Ohio, where he won local, state, and national championships with his team. At the age of 20, he transitioned from training with this program to education and professional work. Charles continued his education at Columbus State Community College, where he completed two semesters of ballet coursework for his Associate of Arts degree. He has spent the last three years studying on his own after graduating from college. Charles has participated in multiple workshops from those in the local community, as well as in New York City at Broadway Dance Center, and Brickhouse NYC.

When Charles is not training, he works as an educator and dancer. He teaches adult hip-hop at Heartfelt Pole Studio in Columbus, Ohio, and instructs Reynoldsburg City Schools in hip-hop at the fundamental level through BalletMet. Additionally, Charles choreographs for many in the local scene, specifically drag performers and the LGBTQ+ community. He has collaborated with artists on many production shows and has choreographed and performed for regional, state, and national pageants. Charles has performed numerous shows as a featured guest artist for Columbus, Ohio’s Xclaim Dance Company, as well as the Hip Hop group Tru Kingdom Mega Crew.

Charles instills in his students a number of fundamental ideas, such as the importance of having fun, the idea that errors spur growth, and the idea that each person is unique and valuable in their own right. As a teacher, Charles hopes to instill confidence in the ability to move freely, increase awareness and respect for all dance forms, and bring the Hip Hop community to a wider range of demographics.
