Let’s Move, Columbus! 2014 | Celebrate National Dance Day

Central Ohio residents are invited to celebrate National Dance Day and Christmas in July with BalletMet on July 26. “Let’s Move, Columbus!” will begin at 10 a.m. in the Topiary Park in the Discovery District with a free outdoor movement class led by BalletMet’s new Dance Academy Director Timothy Lynch. This event is open to the public and perfect for dancers of all skill levels, ages 8 and up.

“We are so excited to celebrate National Dance Day with the people of Columbus,” he said. “Our goal is to get people up and moving – from Just Dance fans to academy students to professionals – we want everyone to dance.”

Following the outdoor class, BalletMet will hold free 45-minute classes in its professional studios at 322 Mt. Vernon Ave. Columbus, OH 43215. Classes will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Leap and Twirl Creative Movement and Story Time for preschoolers, followed by Broadway Jazz and Contemporary Modern (open to dancers of all skill levels, ages 12 and up). Other highlights include Creative Movement, Beginner Ballet to the Beatles, Intro to Tap, costume dress up and behind-the-scenes tours of BalletMet studios and costume shop.

All of the day’s events are completely free. Participants can view the full schedule and RSVP online via BalletMet’s Facebook page.
