Matoi Kawamoto

Matoi received her major ballet training at Kaneta Kouno Ballet Academy in Tokyo.  During her time there, Ms. Kawamoto won 1st prize in All Japan Ballet Union Competition 2014, and 1st prize in Yokohama Ballet festival competition 2015.

Ms. Kawamoto continued winning at YAGP numerous times including 2nd prize in junior category 2nd prize in contemporary category, and Top 12 at YAGP NY final.  In YAGP, she also won scholarship awards from schools such as the San Francisco Ballet School, the Royal Ballet School, Academy Princess Grace, and Dutch National Ballet Academy, and participated in those summer intensives.

In 2019, she furthered her training at the San Francisco Ballet School for two years. Upon graduation, she became a member of Architanz Training Program in Japan in 2021 under Mr. Michael Shannon and Kimiho Hulbert. She won 1st prize at Ballet Japan Cup in 2022, and also got awarded 2nd prize in female junior category at 9th Helsinki International Ballet Competition. She danced with BalletMet for the 22/23 and 23/24 seasons.
