After 16 years with BalletMet, and more than 13 years as Executive Director, Cheri Mitchell has announced she will leave the organization at the beginning of March, 2015. Ms. Mitchell has also agreed to work part-time after March to help with the transition.
Ms. Mitchell has been an incredible advocate for the arts in Central Ohio and she leaves BalletMet in a very strong position. While we will sincerely miss her, BalletMet is exceptionally well-prepared to build on its foundation to continue to grow and be an innovator of dance.
“It has been a privilege to work with BalletMet’s talented and dedicated artists, staff and board members and I am proud of the exceptional programs we provide to our community,” said Ms. Mitchell when announcing her move to the BalletMet Board and staff. “I will always cherish my time at BalletMet, but this change offers me the opportunity to work on other projects that are very important to me.”
BalletMet’s Board of Trustees has formed a search committee headed by Board Member and former Board Chair Mary Duffey and Board Member and Personnel Committee Chair Michael Shultz. The committee will launch a national search for a new Executive Director. Edwaard Liang will continue as Artistic Director of BalletMet.
