BalletMet 2

Founded by Edwaard Liang in 2014, BalletMet 2 is a Dance Academy performing company of 6-8 dancers and is directed by Edwaard Liang.

The BalletMet 2 performance program is designed as a workforce development tool that brings dance to the larger community. We work with schools, civic organizations, festivals and collaborate on projects with organizations such as Opera Columbus, OSU’s Dance Department and The King Arts Complex. Dancers are mentored by the artistic staff and coached in rehearsals and specialized classes.

Selected by audition and paid a modest scholarship stipend, BalletMet 2 members train daily and rehearse and perform season repertoire with BalletMet – the resident, professional company – to develop the expertise required for professional careers.

Repertoire and Alumni

The ensemble has their own repertoire which features a wide variety of works choreographed by Edwaard Liang, George Balanchine, Donald McKayle, Charles Wiedman, Leiland Charles and Dionysia Williams as well as classical masters Marius Petipa and others.

Former BalletMet 2 dancers have been employed by companies such as Atlanta Ballet, BalletMet, Boulder Ballet, Colorado Ballet, Dayton Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, St. Louis Ballet, Todd Rosenlieb Dance, Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, Alberta Ballet, Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Smuin Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre and Nashville Ballet.
