Emma Shinn
Emma Shinn is from Monmouth, Illinois. She began dancing at the age of 4 at Dancers’ Studio under the direction of Arlene Cortes Smith. She has attended summer programs at Joffrey Ballet and Ballet West. In 2024, she attended BalletMet’s Summer Intensive and was offered a position in the trainee program, where she performed in multiple productions with the professional company, including Gerard Charles’ The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan.
As a trainee, she had the opportunity to perform in George Balanchine’s Divertimento No. 15 and the role of Waltz Girl in Balanchine’s Serenade. She competed at the Puerto Rico Classical Dance Competition in 2023, where she placed second in her division. She also attended YAGP in 2026 and placed in the Top 12. Emma is very excited and grateful to join BalletMet 2 for the 26/27 season.
